WHEELCHAIR SELECTION

Electric Powerbase Wheelchairs

Most people in the market to purchase an electric wheelchair choose the "powerbase" wheelchair. This type of wheelchair is constructed of two main parts: a powerbase that contains the batteries, wheels and drive system; and a custom-fitted seat that mounts on the base.

Powerbase wheelchairs come in rear-wheel, mid-wheel, and front-wheel drive configurations. Which one you select depends on the terrain and use.

While electric powerbase wheelchairs don't fold or disassemble, they can be transported using a variety of wheelchair lifts & carriers. This type of wheelchair can accomodate persons up to about 300 to 350 lbs.
